VCCC Research Conference 2019

The conference is a rare opportunity for anyone interested in cancer research, treatment and care to participate in a multi-disciplinary, expert-led scientific meeting spanning a broad range of emerging and high potential research topics. Some of these topics include, genomics, immunotherapy, AI/digital technology and epidemiological insights along with themes including prevention and wellness. The event would interest cancer clinicians, researchers, nurses, allied heath, advocates and consumers alike to gain a holistic perspective on cancer from local and international experts in the field.

The 50+ speakers in the two day conference line-up include cancer and wellness advocate Olivia Newton-John AC OBE, alongside Professor Doug Hanahan, internationally-renowned biologist, professor and director of the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and co-author of the seminal paper The Hallmarks of Cancer; as well as Professor Sanchia Aranda AM, CEO of Cancer Council Australia and Professor Steve Baylin, co-Chief of the Cancer Biology Program of The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins and the Virginia and D.K. Ludwig Chair in Cancer Research.

One of the highlights will be a debate on the topic: Victoria has some of the best cancer outcomes in the world: good luck or good management? The debate will be chaired by Roger Milne, Head of Epidemiology, Cancer Council Victoria. We also have a futurist, Dr Bertalan Mesko self-proclaimed “geek” physician, The Medical Futurist and Director of The Medical Futurist Institute in France who will live stream from France during the AI/Tech session. Dr Bertalan Mesko will present on how science fiction technologies can become a reality in medicine and healthcare.

The ticket is inclusive of a three-course networking dinner with Olivia Newton-John as our VIP guest. Olivia will participate in a fire-side chat on wellness with Prof. Jonathan Cebon, Medical Director at the ONJ Cancer Centre. We have extended our early bird deadline until next week (31 July) so those who would like to hear from Olivia have the opportunity to do so with the lower price.
