Cancer Support Groups provide opportunities for people to regularly meet and share their experiences of the cancer journey in a welcoming and non-judgmental environment. Support Groups will often meet at hospitals or community health centres. Some groups will have a cancer-specific focus whilst others will operate at a more general level with participation open to all cancer patients. In order to ensure the support group is right for your needs please contact the group facilitator in advance to:
• Discuss the aims and objectives of the group;
• Confirm whether the aims and objectives of the group match your expectations;
• Confirm details about start times, location as well as the availability of assistance if you have special support needs such as wheelchair access; and
• Confirm whether group participation is extended to family members, friends and carers.
