Paediatric Oncology

Cancer Council Victoria recommends family members approach discussions with children about their cancer diagnosis both openly and honestly.  Cancer Council Victoria further recommends families use information that is both reliable and age-appropriate to help explain to children what is happening as well as the likely changes they can expect as their cancer journey begins.

A cancer diagnosis for a young person can be also confronting and traumatic for members of the immediate and extended family.  A variety of services are available to support family members, relatives and close friends begin the cancer journey together with the diagnosed child.
